Robby Naish is the king of windsurfing and the first man to achieve lasting fame in the sport.

In 1968, his father, surfer Rick Naish, moved their family from California to Hawaii. There, Robby started windsurfing and won his first world championship title at the age of 13.

Naish continued his streak of success for the next six years and dominated amateur windsurfing, winning world championships in 1977, 1978 and 1979, before even entering the professional athlete category. In 1983 and again in 1984, he won all four Pro World Tour titles (wave riding, slalom, overall, and championship titles) and won the overall every year until 1987, resulting in a total of 24 windsurfing world crowns. His successes also earned him membership in the Laureus World Sports Academy, a prestigious association of sports legends.

Naish was and remains a true ambassador of water sports. He has a powerful style that has absorbed the world’s boardsports audience. In the nineties, he transferred his dedication and charisma to the new discipline at the time, kiteboarding, and then turned to mastering SUP. “The great thing about outdoor sports is that your environment is never the same,” he says. “The environment is always changing and that makes it interesting and exciting.”
